The Meetings Industry Association (mia) has announced that it will appoint Kerrin MacPhie as CEO when Jane Longhurst retires this fall.
MacPhie, who takes up her new role on November 8, comes from VisitBritain / VisitEngland, where she served as Head of Business Events since 2017. She has also previously held executive positions in destinations, associations, hotels and resorts. convention centers as well as a number of volunteer positions on the boards of directors of national and international associations in the sector.
Jane Longhurst said: “I am delighted to hand over the baton to Kerrin, who I have no doubt, with his passion, enthusiasm and knowledge of the boundless industry, will be able to successfully lead the mia and the ‘entire industry as we strive to recover. and beyond. It has been a tremendous honor to serve as the Managing Director of mia for the past 18 years and I will be truly delighted to see the association’s future strategic vision come to fruition under Kerrin’s expert leadership.
MacPhie said: “Over the past 18 months the mia has played a relentless and crucial role in supporting the sector while lobbying and being a trusted advisor to government – it is essential that this work continues and evolves. in the future. I really look forward to building on Jane’s legacy, leading the team and using my expertise to good effect on behalf of mia members, partners and sponsors.
