IHG Hotels & Resorts will open a new InterContinental property in the Romanian capital Bucharest in January 2023.
The opening will mark a rapid return of the InterContinental brand to Romania after the end of the management contract to manage its former property in Bucharest in December 2021 and the hotel was renamed Grand Hotel Bucharest. IHG also owns a Crowne Plaza property in the city.
The new InterContinental Athenee Palace Bucharest, which will have 283 rooms, is located near the Palace of Parliament in the center of the city and will be a 40-minute drive from Henri Coanda International Airport.
Facilities will include an all-day dining restaurant with outdoor terrace, as well as the Athénée Café and English Bar. Conference options include a ballroom with a stained-glass roof and 13 other meeting rooms of varying sizes.
