Americans plan to get moving this summer, with travel up 16% from last year, according to Allianz Partners.
The United States itself will benefit from a large share of these trips, with nearly 75% of travelers heading to domestic destinations (Orlando, Seattle and Honolulu were the top three spots).
Internationally, Mexico remains popular. Cancun and San Jose del Cabo are the top two destinations, in that order, followed by Aruba.
Allianz data comes from an analysis of over 1,175,000 flight routes. He researched trips lasting five to eight days to determine the most popular summer destinations.
Orlando and Cancun have been the top destinations, domestic and international, for the past six years.
Kahului, Hawaii completes the top 10 domestic destinations after Orlando, Seattle and Honolulu; Boston; New York; LA; Vegas; Portland, Oregon; and Denver.
Internationally, after Cancun, San Jose del Cabo and Aruba, the main destinations were Montego Bay, Jamaica; Punta Cana, Dominican Republic; Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; Nassau, Bahamas; the island of Providenciales, Turks and Caicos; Charlotte Amalie, US Virgin Islands; and Liberia, Costa Rica.
